Leadership in the Missouri Senate and House of Representatives appointed interim committees in June 2013 to come up with recommendations on how to reform/expand the state’s Medicaid program. The Senate Interim Committee on Medicaid Transformation and Reform released its final report in December 2013.
The Senate report includes 15 recommendations, including expansion of the current MO HealthNet Managed Care program and limits on non-economic damages in medical malpractice lawsuits. The Senate’s report does not include a recommendation to expand Medicaid eligibility, prompting Senate Democrats to release their own version report on the issue. Read more here.
While Senate Republicans are keeping the door to eligibility expansion shut for now, many are anticipating some component of expansion in the House Interim Committee on Medicaid Transformation’s final report.
